Episode 4: Bath of Least Resistance

"I spent a lifetime learning how to take a good bath." — Jasmine Guillory

Doree and Kate talk to Jasmine Guillory — author of the wonderful novel The Wedding Date, writer of a TinyLetter with great recipes, and taker of a nightly bath — all about her bath routine. She endorses an overflow drain cover for maximum bath comfort, and also recommends Yoga with Adriene to anyone doing yoga at home. And Jasmine discusses her process for finishing her book, which involved a spreadsheet, and her lipstick collection — over 50 at last count.

Before they speak with their guest, Doree and Kate talk about some of their own rituals: Kate goes through her entire nighttime skincare routine, and suggests that for anyone looking for a basic routine, they get the CosRX Low Ph Morning Gel Cleanser, the Heritage Store Rosewater & Glycerin Spray toner or the Lagom mist toner, Sunday Riley Good Genes, and Embryolisse Lait Creme Concentré (a night cream). For the rest of her routine, see below, and don’t forget: “You have to be shameless about getting samples,” says Kate. She also endorses getting a Costco membership for discounted beauty supplies and products.

They also discuss acne spot treatments — Kate recommends the Mario Badescu drying lotion, while Doree is a fan of the Clinique acne solutions clinical clearing gel (and of course don’t forget about the CosRX acne patches!). And Doree talks about her self-care weekend, which included a trip to Olympic Spa for a velvet collagen facial, watching The Florida Project, and a restorative yoga class.
