Kate:                    Hello and welcome to Forever35, a podcast about the things we do to take care of ourselves. I am Kate Spencer

Doree:                And I am Doree Shafrir.

Kate:                    And we are not experts.

Doree:                We're not, we're two friends who like to talk a lot about serums.

Kate:                    And guess what we're doing on this episode today?

Doree:                What are we doing on this episode today, Kate?

Kate:                    We're talking about the Sephora sale.

Doree:                I dunno why I'm acting surprised.

Kate:                    What if I had planned this episode and you did not know?

Doree:                I mean, that would be a little weird.

Kate:                    That would be dark. That would be very dark. That would be not cool of me.

Doree:                I am excited to talk about these things with you.

Kate:                    We look, when we first started this podcast, we went deep on Sephora.

Doree:                We did,

Kate:                    And we've been doing this podcast for six years and I feel like we have kind of floated away from Sephora a little bit. Maybe be it the pandemic we've been living in or whatever. It's almost like we forgot our roots. And as a mother of a 13 year old who now thinks Sephora is the greatest place on earth, I can tell you I've been in a Sephora, a Sephoras. I have been in Sephoras a lot lately,

Doree:                Or sephories as we used to call them,

Kate:                    As we call it. We have been in Sephora a lot in my family and I'm back on the train. I am chew chewing along at the Sephora.

Doree:                Oh wow. Okay.

Kate:                    And I will tell you, I make my kids, they have to pay for their Sephora stuff themselves, but sometimes I'll put it on my credit card and then they pay me back and like a hundred percent. I am at the moment currently using their products to acquire more Sephora points. You get what I'm saying? I'm like, sure, I'll buy you your rare beauty liquid blush and then you're going to pay me back. But it's going on my credit card and my Sephora Insider account so that I can rack up the points. Don't tell them, but that is what I'm up to. I know it's shitty parenting, but you know what? Sometimes you know what?

Doree:                That's smart. That's smart parenting.

Kate:                    I'm scamming my children. Thank you Doree. So look, Sephora is, well-known for having this kind of every twice a year sale and here are the deets. So this episode is airing on October 25th. The Sephora sale starts on October 27th with 30% off of the Sephora collection. And then if you a rouge level Sephora insider, you get 20% off starting the 27th. If you are VIB, your sale starts on the 31st of October with 15% off. And if you are an insider,

Doree:                Which anyone can be,

Kate:                    Anyone can be follow up,

Doree:                you just sign up to be an insider. Yeah.

Kate:                    You get 10% off and that also starts on the 31st. So we thought we would share some of our product recs that if you're looking for something to snag during the sale, these are our preferred items and then we're also going to share some things that we want or that are on our shopping list. For example, I definitely am going to be stocking up on some presents for my daughter for her upcoming birthday and this is the time I will be doing it. Right. This feels like a smart time.

Doree:                I love this for you and for her.

Kate:                    And I will say I am currently at VIB level. I'm currently VIB.

Doree:                Okay. Okay. Alright.

Kate:                    I'll take it.

Doree:                You know what I am too, I believe.

Kate:                    Okay, so before we kick things off, a friendly reminder that you can visit our website, which is Forever35podcast.com for links to everything we mention on the show. You can also,

Doree:                and this is a lot of links,

Kate:                    We're going to be linking hard. Shout out to Sami Reed, our project manager who will be putting those links together.

Doree:                Yes,

Kate:                    She does the labor. You can find us on Instagram @Forever35podcast. You can join our patreon at patreon.com/forever35. We have launched a new casual chat episode that we are doing weekly, which we are just, it's just the two of us shooting the breeze.

Doree:                We're just gabbin.

Kate:                    It's a lot of fun. It is a lot of fun. We really go to places that I know, places we've never been to quote Taylor Swift, but we're going there and you can find our favorite products including all of these that we mentioned at Shopmy.us/forever35. Our newsletter is at forever35podcast.com/newsletter. And if you want to reach us, text or leave us a voicemail at (781) 591-0390 and you can also email us at Forever35podcast@gmail.com.

Doree:                Thank you Kate.

Kate:                    It's a pleasure. And without further ado, here is what I think you should add to your shopping list for the Sephora sale and this is just like a tip of the iceberg.

Doree:                Well, and to be clear, we're dividing things up into two, kind of two sections. Kate is going to do her recommendations and I'm going to do my recommendations and we're going to do recommendations are things that we have tried personally that we can recommend, and then we're also doing a section of things that we are coveting or that we want to give as gifts. That we have not actually tried. I am assuming that is also the case for you. So we're going to start with Recs

Kate:                    And we're going to try to move quickly because the lists are long.

Doree:                The lists are long

Kate:                    We may the limit our lists.

Doree:                Yep.

Kate:                    Okay, so my first rec for you to grab the day this sale starts in the Sephora collection section is Sephora's lip stain Cream Lip stain, liquid lipstick in number zero one. This is what I would describe as the perfect red. I think the title of the item is called Always Red. It is a matte classic red. I have used this lip stain. I love it. It stays on. I don't find it too drying. I love the color. I just think it is a great thing to add to your lip color collection. The price is already right. I think Sephora collection is really good quality and the prices are really good. It's $15 not in the sale, 30% off. That's a steal.

Doree:                Yeah. So just to clarify, Sephora collection, no matter what, your level is 30% off.

Kate:                    That is my understanding from the information I gathered on the website, sephora.com.

Doree:                I'm familiar.

Kate:                    So when I went and listed all the sale dates, that's what it says. So I think anybody can start hitting up that Sephora Collection sale on the 27th.

Doree:                Got it.

Kate:                    This would be, I'm actually probably buying this myself.

Doree:                Okay. Alright. Very cool.

Kate:                    Big statement. We'll see if I actually do, but big statement. Okay. Next up is an item that one of my aforementioned children purchased and I used it this weekend and I really liked it. It is the rare beauty soft pinch, liquid blush. It blended so nicely. It is a thing that is already kind of beloved and buzzed about and I was like, oh, this is as good as everyone says. That was my reaction to it.

Doree:                Wow. Okay.

Kate:                    So this to me seems like a great time to pick that up and add it to your cart.

Doree:                Great.

Kate:                    Another blush that I have that I love is the Merit Flush Balm cream. It is super simple. It comes in this little circular container. It is just a rounded kind of stub of hard blush. It's like a stick, but it's like a stub. Do you know what I'm talking about? It comes in like a pot. It comes in a pot and it's like a rounded circular thing.

Doree:                Oh yes, I see. Yes, I see what you mean. Now you just rub it on your face.

Kate:                    I literally, I used it today. I took it, I did a streak on one side, a streak on the other, and then you could rub with your fingertips. I actually have this really great brush that I didn't put on my list, but it's by Sai Beauty. It's their base foundation brush and I really like it for just rubbing everything into my face. I think that's the one I have. Or I have the big buffing. I have one of their brushes anyway, so I did use that, but I think you could use your fingers or a beauty blender or whatever brush you have.

Doree:                Okay. Sorry, which shade do you have?

Kate:                    I don't remember. And I didn't put it down and I actually purposely didn't write down shades because I feel like it's a very personal thing based on your preference and your skin tone, all those things. So I didn't even check, but I really,

Doree:                This looks nice, Kate, you might've just influenced me.

Kate:                    I was really have merits. I have a bunch of other merit products, some that I like and some that I've kind of been like eh on. But this I think is really great. So this would be, if you're going to try Merit, this is my where I would start. Alright, now I'm going to make a bold declaration.

Doree:                Okay, I'm ready.

Kate:                    This is the best brow gel that I've ever tried. It's Patrick. Yep, That's right. Patrick TA's, major brow lamination gel. This shit is the best.

Doree:                Okay, Kate, that is a bold statement.

Kate:                    Bold statement. $27. You can get a mini for 15. It's going to be cheaper on sale. Highly recommend.

Doree:                Wow. Okay.

Kate:                    Okay. Moving along to another makeup product. The Fenty Beauty by Rihanna. Shadow sticks, long wear eyeshadow stick. Now let me tell you why I really like this product. The colors are gorgeous. I love how it goes on. It lasts really well. I traveled this weekend and this was the only eye color product. I didn't bring a palette. I just brought this and I have the color.

Doree:                Wow.

Kate:                    Sip and sparkle. I believe in the shimmer finish. I like this thing. If you just want an easy eye color thing, I just would grab one of these. Super easy to travel with.

Doree:                Wow. Okay, great.

Kate:                    Plus I think Fenty Beauty makes really great makeup. Okay,

Doree:                I do like Fenty beauty.

Kate:                    I'm going to shift gears. Do and we're going to leave Makeup behind and we're going to go to my favorite hair product. This is HU OUAI. Whey. Their Detox shampoo. I think this might be a Caroline Moss slash g. Thanks. Just bought it. Recommendation that I somehow saw or heard or read. I think this might've come from Caroline for me, came to me from Caroline. This stuff is the best. I love this shit.

Doree:                Can I ask a question?

Kate:                    You can and I'll do my best to answer it.

Doree:                I know that some people do not like the smell of OUAI. How do you feel about it?

Kate:                    I love the smell of OUAI.

Doree:                You love it. Okay. Alright.

Kate:                    And I think you can use this product. I alternate between this and other shampoos. I currently have former podcast Advertiser, a Vega, more Former current, I think they're former podcast advertisers, but I currently have some Vega More shampoo that I use. So I don't use this all the time because it is technically a detox shampoo that's kind of like getting all the gunk and product out of your hair. So this might not be an every, especially if you're an everyday shampooer, this might not be what you want to use. But I like having this in the shower to use once or twice a week. It makes my hair feel amazing. I love the smell. I just think it's a great product. Alright, last thing I'm going to include in my recs that I want to buy. I'm ready and this is something that I'm probably going to stock up on because I love this product. I haven't used it in a long time and I love the way it feels. It is the skincare brand belief, B-E-L-I-F, the true cream Aqua bom.

Doree:                Oh, This is an iconic product.

Kate:                    I have come and gone from this product, I've used it, I've loved it, and then I've left it and I'm ready to be back with it. It's just a great, I love the way it makes my skin feel. I love how it feels going on. It's like a perfect for me daytime morning moisturizer. So I was thinking I would be buying that for myself as well. And I also just wanted to share it as a recommendation for all your listeners.

Doree:                Thank you so much, Kate. Appreciate you, appreciate you not gatekeeping.

Kate:                    Look, I think sometimes gatekeeping is valuable.

Doree:                Oh,

Kate:                    But not right now.

Doree:                When is gatekeeping valuable? Tell me.

Kate:                    It's not that I think, well, this is, now you're getting me into a philosophical question. I think that social media has erased our curiosity, and so I kind of feel like the idea of telling everybody everything. I'm not saying we should gatekeep, I'm saying that we should make our own discoveries and not necessarily have to rely on social media to direct us to places. I also think then it overlooks all these other amazing opportunities and things that we might not be seeing just because someone didn't make a TikTok about it.

Doree:                Kate, I don't disagree with you.

Kate:                    That doesn't really have to do with gatekeeping. I do like the idea of sharing information, not trying to keep anything close to the vest, but I do think I just have felt that in myself that sometimes I've noticed my lack of curiosity has been erased by the ways in which we can just readily get information everywhere.

Doree:                That's very interesting.

Kate:                    Yeah, I'm having a lot of big thoughts about social media this year, clearly. Well, moving on.

Doree:                Let us move on, Kate,

Kate:                    To my wants.

Doree:                And again, to be clear, these are items that you have not tried.

Kate:                    That is correct. All of these things I'm about to list, I have not tried, but there are things that have either been on my radar that I've been thinking about, or that I kind of was tootalooting around the website and I was like, oh, this looks interesting and would be a good time to buy it. And also to be clear, feel free not to buy anything we support not being a consumer, but if you're inclined, here we go. I feel like I'm always on the hunt for perfect mascara, kind of like the perfect pair of jeans and I am still looking and I thought, you know what? The Sephora Collection sale seems really good. I'm going to try the Sephora collection big by definition, defining and volumizing mascara and see how I like it.

Doree:                Okay,

Kate:                    So first up is Sephora's own mascara. The second product I want to try that I have been thinking about for a long time that I definitely don't need, but I want is Ranavat hydrating Jasmine Mist.

Doree:                Okay. You love a mist

Kate:                    Look. I do. I have plenty. I don't need anymore.

Doree:                I have never heard of this brand. What is Ranavat

Kate:                    Doree? It's a brand that I keep hearing about. I believe it falls under the clean at Sephora label. But beyond that, I do not know much about the brand. I have specifically seen this mist recommended. I love the smell of Jasmine. Ranavat is the founder's last name. Her name is Michelle.

Doree:                Okay. Okay.

Kate:                    I'm just kind of reading through. She's Indian American. I believe a lot of her experience in India is what has led to her line, but that's as far as that's much as I know.

Doree:                I do want to point out a question that someone asked on the page for this mist, which is are there any preservatives in this product? If not, then how is the product preserved? And I actually think this is a really important question that people don't often talk about when it comes to clean unquote beauty. Because one of the trade-offs of clean beauty is that they're not using preservatives. And a lot of times you have to be very careful about the product going bad, much more

Kate:                    Like food,

Doree:                much more quickly than you might be used to. I think we have grown accustomed to being able to open up a moisturizer that we bought three years ago and having it still be okay.

Kate:                    Totally.

Doree:                And I think for some of these products, and I'm not trying to single out Ranavat, but I've just noticed this, you do have to be a little bit more careful because they do not have the same kind of preservatives that other products might have.

Kate:                    Did anyone answer that question?

Doree:                No. No one has answered that question, which, that's a good question.

Kate:                    That is a very good question. Well, that's on my list.

Doree:                Okay.

Kate:                    Okay. Now Doree, Sephora sells a variety of things, and I almost jokingly put the Dr. Barbara Stern vagina drops on my list, but I really don't want to buy those and so I'm not even going to joke about it. But in addition to selling vaginal products, they also sell candles.

Doree:                Oh, yes, they do.

Kate:                    There is a nest candle that had a lot of really good reviews and that looks like it would smell right at my alley and be a really nice kitchen candle and that is their lime zest and matcha candle.

Doree:                Ooh,

Kate:                    doesn't that sound like it would smell good?

Doree:                Yes.

Kate:                    The reviews are really positive, so I thought I might try this.

Doree:                That sounds really yummy.

Kate:                    Yeah, I saw this and I was like, oh, hello. Okay, next up is a gift drunk Elephant Day dazzle kit. My daughter is newly obsessed with Drunk Elephant. Let me tell you, that's an expensive hobby.

Doree:                Totally

Kate:                    For a young teenager. So I think she has a birthday and the Christmas holiday season to ask for presents coming up, and so I don't know if this is on her list, I'm going to kind of poke around, but I do know she's very interested in trying drunk elephant stuff and hasn't bought any of it because it's pricey. So I thought maybe this might be a nice little present.

Doree:                Aw, I love that.

Kate:                    Then I wanted to get the ordinary matri and the ordinary arline. These two chemicals serums apparently work extra well together.

Doree:                Do you know? So I know in the past, Sephora has not included the ordinary in their sale, and I don't know if that is still the case. I don't want to mislead anyone, so I would just say check that out. If you are interested in the ordinary products, good products.

Kate:                    Okay. I did not know that. Okay. Thank you for noting that. Doree,

Doree:                you are so welcome

Kate:                    because I did not know that. Well, the price is pretty good with the ordinary, so it might just get these things no matter what.

Doree:                Right. I feel like that's kind of, the Ordinary is already so cheap that Okay. Well, I feel good about Matrixl.

Kate:                    I do. And with the argelene, I'm kind of curious. I should also say that Sephora also sells the Inky List, which is another really affordable skincare line, and they've actually been a podcast sponsor in the past and I forgot to put them on my list, but their products are amazing. I use their hyaluronic acid face serum every morning and they make a really great water cream that I like better than Tacha and it's like 11 bucks. So just don't sleep on the Yankee list.

Doree:                Don't sleep on the Yankee List.

Kate:                    Okay, so a couple other things I wanted to add to my want list. Fenty Beauty Ease, drop Stick Blur, and Smooth Tint Stick Foundation. I don't know, this seemed kind of appealing to me. I don't have a stick foundation. This just looked like easy and kind of intriguing and I've had such positive experiences with their makeup so far that I thought I would give it a try.

Doree:                Okay, great. I love that.

Kate:                    My last item on my list is beliefs. Aqua BM makeup, removing cleansing balm. I love a really good cleansing balm and I don't have a loyalty to a single one. I just kind of use whatever is in my drawer that I have and I'm about to, I think I'm using Versed right now and I'm about to run out, so I was like, well, I like belief. I'm kind of getting back on the belief train, so why don't I just put this into my bag and see how it goes.

Doree:                Great.

Kate:                    That's a lot of stuff,

Doree:                Kate. That is a lot of stuff. We need to take a break.

Kate:                    Alright, let's recalibrate. Let's collect ourselves and then we're going to come back for the Doree Shafrir journey.

Doree:                I can't wait. Alright, we'll be right back. All right, Kate, we have returned.

Kate:                    I'm snuggled in. I've got my bubbly water. I'm pulling up the covers and I'm ready to listen. It's like my bedtime story. What is Doree recommending in the Sephora sale?

Doree:                I feel like people have heard me talk about most of these products before, so just know that these are authentically authentic products that I have authentically tried.

Kate:                    These are confirmed. Doree Shafrir faves.

Doree:                These are confirmed. Doree Shafrir faves. I might be stocking up on some of these myself, but yeah. Okay, so the first is the Tower 28 lip jelly. This is a lip gloss that I just love. I love the consistency. I love their colors. I like the company. I like the price. It's $16. I wouldn't say it has a ton of staying power. It's not like the lip stain that Kate recommended. I do feel like you need to reapply it, but I really like it. And so that is my first recommendation.

Kate:                    I'm also in the mood to get back into shimmery shiny lip glosses.

Doree:                Yeah, this is, it's a shiny lip gloss.

Kate:                    Yeah, I'm back. I'm ready for more shiny lip glosses. Okay. Alright. Into it.

Doree:                I feel like Matte, anything matte and anything long staying really dries out my lips.

Kate:                    It does. It does D dry, although the Sephora one is not that bad.

Doree:                Oh, okay. Good to know. That Maybelline one that people were really into for a while. I was just like, my lips have never been dryer in my life.

Kate:                    No, it sucks every drop of moisture out. Yeah.

Doree:                Okay. This next product is the bumble and bumble. Don't blow it. Fine. Hair, air Dry Styler.

Kate:                    Okay. Talk to me about this. I want this. I've never heard of this.

Doree:                Oh, I love this product. It's $34 for the bigger tube. It also comes in a smaller tube. That is kind of hard to find. It sells out a lot. I think it's currently sold out on Sephora's website. This is like a cream, a hair cream essentially that you put in your hair when it's like damp. And I like to kind of scrunch it a little bit and it just gives, if you air dry, it gives your hair just a little bit of smoothness and a little bit of volume. Feel like it just makes your hair look a little bit nicer. If you are an air dryer now it comes in two formulations. It comes in one for fine hair and then it comes in one for I think curly slash thick hair, something like that. So just make sure that you are buying the one that is for your hair type. If you are a Patreon subscriber. You heard Kate and me on our last casual chat episode talking about our haircuts. Kate, you asked why I don't have bangs and I said because, well, for a few reasons, but one of them is that for me at least when I had bangs, I had to blow dry my hair every day or every time I showered, which was at the time every day and wash my hair. And now I'm a big air dryer and I like this product a lot.

Kate:                    All right, this is a hot tip. I'm going to try this.

Doree:                So yeah, I recommend. Okay. The next product is a Beauty Blender

Kate:                    Classic. And you like the Beauty Blender brand?

Doree:                Yes, I do. Now, I admittedly have not tried the off brand beauty blender, but I like the OG Beauty blender. I know some people don't like Beauty blenders. I like beauty blenders. I think they work as advertised. They blend. They blend nicely, they blend. And the beauty blender is $20, which I feel like is more than I paid the last time I bought a beauty blender. It does seem like everything has gone up, which I know is not shocking news because inflation, but whatever. It's $20 now, but with a discount because of the sale. Okay. Next product. I want to recommend two thick overnight creams. One is a longtime favorite of both Kate and me.

Kate:                    Indeed. Indeed.

Doree:                It's the skin fix barrier plus triple lipid peptide, refillable face cream. It's $54 and it is refillable. You can get a little refill cartridge and keep the main container so there's still plastic in the cartridge or the refill, whatever, but at least you don't have to get a new container each time, which is kind of cool.

Kate:                    I love that. And I agree with Doree. This is a fantastic product.

Doree:                I think it's a great product. I do not have oily skin anymore, but I feel like this is a safe product to buy. If you're looking for an overnight moisturizer, even if you have oily skin. I don't think it's super oily cloggy. Okay. The next product is a favorite of mine that I don't buy too often because it is quite pricey, but I do love it. It is the Tatcha Indigo Overnight Repair Serum and Cream treatment. Speaking of things that have increased in price, this is now $92. It did not use to cost $92

Kate:                    Spicy.

Doree:                When I saw that, I was like, Ooh, okay. But if you're looking, I feel like sometimes people just want to kind of splurge on a fancy product, and this is a product I would recommend Splurging on Tacha is great with their packaging. It just feels luxurious to get a Tacha product, and when you get this product, it feels so nice going on. It's such a lovely product. I do feel like it's deeply moisturizing. I love the whole idea of a serum in cream. I mean like what?

Kate:                    It's a whammy,

Doree:                But again, expensive. $92. So this is a treat. Okay, now I'm going to recommend two hand creams. One is the Klee hand and nail cream that I've liked forever. It is $16. It's a great product. It's moisturizing, but it's not greasy. I think it is wonderful.

Kate:                    I think the smell is really lovely too.

Doree:                Yeah, it's not an overwhelming scent. I don't like overwhelming scents.

Kate:                    I do know that about you,

Doree:                But I also feel like a lot of times hand creams are not actually moisturizing.

Kate:                    Okay. A little conspiracy theory.

Doree:                They're either not actually moisturizing or they're so thick that you're like,

Kate:                    Oh yeah,

Doree:                My hand is now greasy for three hours. You know what I mean?

Kate:                    I do. Oh yes. You've lubed up your hands.

Doree:                Yes.

Kate:                    You can't touch anything.

Doree:                Right. I used to buy multiple bottles of this and keep it everywhere. I would keep one in my desk, one in my bag, one by my bed. It was just all around. So the other hand cream that I really love is another skin fix product. It's a little more expensive than the Cali. It's $20, although it is a little bit bigger. So the skin fix is three ounces. The Cali is two and a half ounces, So I guess it's probably roughly the same. I don't know. Do the math. It's the skin fix eczema plus hand repair cream. And as someone who does get very dry hands and does have eczema, although not usually on my hands, but my skin is prone to it. It is such a good product. I just love that it's formulated for people with eczema. Thank you. Skin fix.

Kate:                    Yeah, their stuff is great.

Doree:                Their stuff is so great. So I'm a big fan of that. Okay. Kate, I have two more products.

Kate:                    One of these I didn't know that you used. I'm really very curious about this.

Doree:                Okay. There is a product, I have talked about this before. The color. Wow. Root coverup powder. I first learned about this powder. I think I was getting my makeup done for something, and I don't remember what it was, but the makeup artist had this, and I was like, oh, that's interesting. You just put it on your roots so you could use it. If you have dyed blonde hair and you have roots, you could put it on your dark roots if you wanted to. But it's also good to cover up bald spots. Oh, and I think you have to be a little bit careful with it, but I think it looks surprisingly natural. It kind of,

Kate:                    What color do you use? Do you use dark brown?

Doree:                I use dark brown.

Kate:                    Okay.

Doree:                Or do I use medium brown? I think I use dark brown. Wait, No, I think I use medium brown, but I think it's a great product. I'm actually curious to try some of color wow's, other products, but I haven't tried 'em. They have a foam styling foam, which is like a moose for if you have dyed brown hair, if you have dyed blonde hair. There's just different products that they have. So I recommend this product. Okay. The last product I have, this is a big ticket item, and the only reason it's on this list is because I know that some people basically wait all year to buy this at the Sephora sale. It is the Dyson Air Wrap.

Kate:                    Okay.

Doree:                I own this product. I like this product. Not everyone likes this product. I'm just going to put that out there. Now they do make attachments.

Kate:                    I have mixed feelings about this product.

Doree:                Kate has mixed feelings about it. They make attachments for different style hair, like they make attachments for straight hair, thicker hair, fine hair. So make sure you're getting the correct one. Again, make sure you're getting the correct one for your hair type. It is $599. It is quite expensive, but if it is something that you have had your eye on for a while, the Sephora sale at least is going to get you a little bit of a discount. Because from what I have seen, Dyson generally does not go on sale just randomly. So this could be your chance. All right. We are going to take another short break, and then we are going to come back with some gift recommendations from me.

Kate:                    I can't wait.

Doree:                We'll be right back. Okay. We have returned now, Kate, my first recommendation, I think, is something that includes one of your recommendations.

Kate:                    I think you're right.

Doree:                It is the rare Beauty mini blush and glow four piece set. So this comes with minis of the soft pinch, liquid blush, and the positive light Liquid luminizer in new and fan favorite shades.

Kate:                    I'm really grumpy about celebrities doing makeup lines except when they're good and I feel like Selena Gomez and Rihanna have made really good ones, so maybe I shouldn't be grumpy about it, is what I'm saying. I think this is a really good, I really like all these rare beauty prods that I've tried. They're all really good.

Doree:                Yeah. Okay. So yeah, this is a gift set that includes the soft pinch liquid blush that Kate mentioned. It comes in a cute little box. It's $34. It claims that it is a 50 something dollar value. Is that true? I don't know. It says it's a $54 value. I dunno. I feel like the things with these gift sets is like, yes, it is technically a $54 value, but would you have bought all of these shades? Probably not. You know what I mean?

Kate:                    Yes. Right. I know.

Doree:                So you're probably getting at least one or two things that you're at best sort of ambivalent about, but these all seem lovely and I think it would make a really cute gift. The next thing on my list is the Tatcha Mini favorite set for $68. This claims to be $118 value. This has basically travel sizes of the Tatcha cleansing oil, the rice wash, the deep cleanse, the essence, the water cream, and the dewy skin cream. I have used all of these products, actually, I don't think I've used the Deep Cleanse, but I've used the rest of them. They're all great, especially the cleansing oil is wonderful. That's great. The water cream, it's like a great day Cream. I also love the dewy skin cream.

Kate:                    I love the rice wash. I think the rice wash is great. The

Doree:                Rice wash is great. I mean, the essence is great. These are all great products. The one thing that I will say is that the samples or the products of the water cream and the dewy skin cream, the moisturizers are very small.

Kate:                    You could use them in two sessions.

Doree:                I feel like two to three you would get out of it, but it's a good way to try this stuff. And it comes in a cute little pouch, cute little touch of pouch. And Tacha products are expensive, so this is a nice way to try a range of their line. I feel like this would be a nice gift for someone. Okay, The next gift suggestion I have is The Drunk Elephant Wild Night, the Evening Kit.

Kate:                    Ooh, what's happening at night?

Doree:                What is happening at Night? Drunk Elephant. So this has the Lala Retro Whipped Cream, which is a moisturizer. This has the TLC Fran Booze Glycolic Night Serum Serum, the Serum Mighty AF Eyeball, and the Bestie number nine Jelly Cleanser. So it's a whole night routine,

Kate:                    Which you love that cleanser.

Doree:                That's a great cleanser. And the product sizes are a little bigger mostly than the Tacha ones. Like the moisturizer is 1.69 fluid ounces, and the Tacha one I think was 0.38 or something. And the serum is 0.5 fluid ounces. The eyeball is only point 16 fluid ounces, but you really shouldn't use that much eyeball. It's really a couple of drops, so that should last you longer. And then the cleanser is two ounces. So this also feels like a great thing to buy if you, our drunk Elephant, curious if you use Drunk Elephant and you want to get a travel size and a cute little bag. So I think it's this really cute little set, and it comes in this cute box that says Wild Night.

Kate:                    I love that name. That's cute. I'm into that.

Doree:                I know, I know.

Kate:                    I don't have Wild Nights, but I like the name.

Doree:                So Skin Fix also has a set that I think is fun. This comes with the triple lipid peptide cream, and then it comes with a refill.

Kate:                    Oh, that's cute. That's nice.

Doree:                Isn't that cool?

Kate:                    I like that.

Doree:                Yeah. So it comes with a refill, and then it also has their foaming oil cleanser, which full disclosure, I have not tried. But what I will say is the triple lipid peptide cream that the set comes with is their full size and their full size costs $54, and this set is $68, and you're basically getting two.

Kate:                    This is a good deal.

Doree:                So this feels like a very good deal. And then as a bonus, you're also getting an oil cleanser. So I feel like if this is a product that you use and you know, use it, this is a good way to get, you're paying less, you're paying just a little bit more than you would pay for one

Kate:                    Stock up is what I hear you saying. If you can afford to stock up.

Doree:                Okay. Now, they also sell a large size of the triple lipid peptide, refillable face cream. They sell a three ounce size. The three ounce, I believe, does not offer a refill. So if you want to do refill, you have to do the standard size. Also, the three ounce is $78, so you're still coming out ahead if you get the set, because you're getting 3.4 ounces plus a face wash for $68.

Kate:                    Yeah, That's a good deal.

Doree:                I feel like sometimes these sets, you're sort of like, eh, is it a good deal? But this feels like an actual good deal. Okay.

Kate:                    Okay.

Doree:                The next gift set that I am intrigued by is the Maison Margiela Replica Memory Box. Mini Perfume sampler set. I am Margiela Perfume. Curious, and this feels like a good way. Look for me to satisfy my curiosity. It's $39 and a full size. Okay, so wait, it's $39. And then, but a mini size, which is 10 milliliters or 0.34 ounces is $35. So let's see what size these all are.

Kate:                    I really like how you do do math on all these products.

Doree:                I really need to see the value here. Okay.

Kate:                    No, you do. And I think that's good, but that's the point, right? Plus we're also doing, There's a sale on top of this.

Doree:                Yes. Okay. So these are all two milliliters. So you're getting

Kate:                    Decent

Doree:                20 milliliters worth of perfume for 39, whereas a 10 milliliter size, so five times the size of these little samples is $35. So you're basically getting twice the amount of perfume for four more dollars. Now, you might not like all of the scents, of course, but I think that's kind of fun. Also, I will point out I do not believe all of their scents, or at least not at Sephora. I don't think they all come in the small size. Oh no. Maybe they do. And then they also have candles. I have a Margie by the fireplace scented candle that I've never lit.

Kate:                    Oh, does it smell good?

Doree:                It does, but even unlit, the smell is very overpowering, and I was afraid to light it because I was like, my whole house will smell like a fireplace. But now that I have my candle warmer, I feel like I might, can I put it under the candle warmer and see what happens? Because that will be kind of a more mild scent, and I won't feel like I'm choking from smoke. Hopefully. Now my last recommendation is another big ticket item.

Kate:                    I love that you brought big tickets to this list.

Doree:                Well, I do just feel like there are, I am not in a position right now to buy a big ticket item, but there are people out there who buy big ticket items, and they might as well get a little bit of a discount when they buy a big ticket item.

Kate:                    I love this item. I will say

Doree:                Kate has used this item. It is the Dr. Dennis Gross, DRX Spectra Light Face Wear Pro. It is a face mask that uses, what is it? Use LED. It's an LED device. An LED face mask. It's $455. It looks insane when you put it on.

Kate:                    It does. It's ridiculous.

Doree:                Supposedly. It actually works.

Kate:                    I believe it does.

Doree:                So if you're in the market for an LED mask again, you might as well get it 10 to 20% off. Also, I'm curious about some of the other Dr. Dennis Gross devices, like the Eyecare Max Pro, which is just like an eye mask thing. He also has one for your lips. He also has a facial steamer.

Kate:                    I saw that. I know that looks kind of intriguing.

Doree:                Right? Okay. Here's another thing that I just want to point out. Shawnee Darden also has an LED mask now.

Kate:                    Okay, I just saw this

Doree:                And it is $1,900.

Kate:                    I almost keeled over when I saw price tag.

Doree:                I mean, it has reviews, so someone has bought it, but I'm just like, who is spending $1,900 on this?

Kate:                    A celebrity,

Doree:                I guess. I mean, that seems so bananas to me.

Kate:                    Absolutely bananas.

Doree:                Yeah,

Kate:                    But it's all bananas.

Doree:                It's all bananas. You're right, of course.

Kate:                    But that's the most bananas.

Doree:                That is the most bananas. I also just want to point out, as Kate mentioned, alluded to with the Dr. Barbara Stern vagina drops, Sephora now sells vibrators. I don't know when this happened, but they now have a quite extensive line of vibrators. So this could also be your chance to get a vibe on a discount.

Kate:                    I like that. That seems reasonable. Get a serum, get a vibe, have a great,

Doree:                it's a vibe

Kate:                    Bedtime routine. It's literally a vibe.

Doree:                It's literally a vibe.

Kate:                    Lemme see here. What area do they keep the vibrators in? Their little categories here?

Doree:                They do kind of hide them. Tools and brushes, and then under wellness.

Kate:                    Oh my gosh. Oh, I see. There it is. Vibrators. Okay.

Doree:                It's a whole category. Vibrators. Yeah.

Kate:                    Oh look, they've got a lot.

Doree:                They have a lot. They have a lot. They have few varieties. A lot from a brand called Smile Makers Mod. They have a Goop vulva, Viva Vulva Vibrator doesn't have great reviews.

Kate:                    The French lover, flexible and soft vibrating tongue. Okay. Sephora.

Doree:                Right. I like how it's all online only

Kate:                    So people can't try it in the store.

Doree:                No, These are not to be tried in store.

Kate:                    Okay. Alright. I'm intrigued.

Doree:                So yeah, get your vibe on. Alright, Kate, that brings us to the end of our Sephories Journey here.

Kate:                    I'm happy to be back. Happy to be back in the Sephora space.

Doree:                Yeah, me too. Me too.

Kate:                    Let us know what you grab in the sale, if you grab anything at all, but I love a sale.

Doree:                Yeah, let us know what you get. I do just want to, I'm noting, I'm noticing all of the vibrators still in now clicked three. The oldest reviews for all of them are 24 days old.

Kate:                    So did they just put vibrators online?

Doree:                Maybe just put Vibrators online? Maybe This is a brand new Oh no, the Goop one. The Goop one has older reviews.

Kate:                    Some of that kind annoys me some brand new, what is this? Goop one

Doree:                A Goop one. The oldest reviews are from a year ago, so I think it's relatively new. Anyway. Okay. Let us know if you buy anything, let us know if you buy any of our recommendations and how you like them. Maybe you'll hate them.

Kate:                    Maybe you'll hate them. Yeah, I'm curious. But if there's, there's something that we should get, let us know too.

Doree:                Yes. If there's something we should get, let us know. Also, Sephora does have a great return policy.

Kate:                    They do.

Doree:                Just something to keep in mind. Okay, Kate, we're at the point of our episode where we talk about our intentions for the week and you were traveling and you were going to pack light. How did that go?

Kate:                    I nailed it. I want you to know.

Doree:                Wow,

Kate:                    I nailed it.

Doree:                Okay.

Kate:                    I packed my away, carry on the larger size, and then I packed my cow pack, personal item bag. I forget the name of it.

Doree:                The Luca duffle.

Kate:                    The Luca duffle Doree per your recommendation.

Doree:                But the first time you used it, you said you didn't like it.

Kate:                    Here's why I stuffed it.

Doree:                Oh, you overpacked it.

Kate:                    If you pack it to the brimm and then try to shove it under the seat, it will not fit. It cannot be packed to capacity. Now, this is just in the Kate Spencer travel experience. This might not be for everybody. The other thing I don't like is that if it's super heavy, I don't find it comfortable to carry on its own. I'm not a fan of a duffle one strapp or holding it in my hand. I prefer a backpack if I am carrying it. But if it's sliding over my suitcase,

Doree:                Yes, yes,

Kate:                    Then it's fine.

Doree:                Okay.

Kate:                    So that is what happened. I gave it a second chance and it worked well, but I did not have it packed to the brimm.

Doree:                Okay. Alright.

Kate:                    But I did manage really pare down what I brought and that actually worked well for me. And it was a good practice for me not to have 8 million choices and I set up the actual outfits ahead of time. I'm going to wear this with this or I could wear this with this. And so that was kind of helpful too, to know what my options were. I would even write it down.

Doree:                I like that.

Kate:                    Yeah. Also, just while I'm here, I happen to be over on the Calak website. They're also having a sale and their small clear cosmetics case, which is one of the best items I've ever bought for traveling is currently on sale. It's $75. Normally it's currently on sale for 63.75. I don't know, by the time this airs, if it will still be on sale. I don't know. Anniversary sale. Hold on, I'm going to check real quick. Anyway, so that is, yeah, it worked out well. I actually kind of nailed it and I really felt good about my packing this week. I've had a whole journey buying a walking pad. Doree, I've jumped on that bandwagon and I purchased a walking pad, the cheapest one I could find. It ended up being faulty, so I had to get my money back and now I have bought another one and that hopefully will work. But I have to say, I like having this. I'm into it. I will edit episodes, I'll listen to podcast episodes and do my edits while walking on the walking pad. There's certain things, I don't think I could write a book on the walking pad or maybe not even send emails. But there is a lot of work I do that I end up being sedentary while I do it and I'd like to be moving because as discussed, I feel like sitting is really hurting my body. So I'm now a walking pad person. We'll see

Doree:                Look at you. Who knew

Kate:                    I maybe becoming one.

Doree:                This would be your destiny.

Kate:                    I mean, anybody who knows how easily influenced I am, probably knew this would be my destiny. Alright. How about you, Doree? Last week you said to not get wrapped up in the news, it has been just awful. How did that go? Because that seems pretty hard.

Doree:                It went okay. I haven't had Twitter on my phone for a long time, and I think that that has really helped because I was away this weekend and I didn't bring my computer, and so I didn't look at Twitter all weekend. I did look at the New York Times and the news app a few times, but when I got home I looked at Twitter and I was like, oh, this is where the bad stuff is.

Kate:                    Yeah.

Doree:                You know what I mean? And so being able to just stay off Twitter I think has been good for me.

Kate:                    Good. I'm glad.

Doree:                And then this week I am not in a good place mentally right now, and so I'm going to try not to be consumed with dread every second of every day.

Kate:                    When you say that, do you have things that you do that help you in this way, help you not be consumed with dread or kind of practices that you put into place when you're feeling that way?

Doree:                It's hard too because the nature of the dread is like not, it's not amorphous. Do you know what I mean? You know how sometimes you're like, I'm just feeling depressed and this is very specific and it's like, unless until I fix this situation, there's nothing I can really do about it. Do you know what I mean?

Kate:                    Yeah. It's not like taking three deep breaths is going to solve the dread.

Doree:                Exactly.

Kate:                    Yep. Yep. I hear you.

Doree:                So that's just where I'm at and yeah, we, we'll see how it goes.

Kate:                    Okay. We'll talk next week.

Doree:                We'll talk next week. Okay. Thanks everybody. Forever35 is hosted and produced by me, Doree Shafrir and Kate Spencer, And produced and edited by Sam Junio. Sami Reed is our project manager and our network partner is Acast. Thanks everyone for listening. Bye.
