Episode 3: If You Masked Me To
Kate has recently bought Jane Brody's Good Food Book: Living the High-Carbohydrate Way, which her mom had when she was growing up in the '80s, and she's going to try to cook more recipes out of it — carbs be damned. She's also cooking her way through Patricia Wells' Trattoria: Simple and Robust Fare Inspired by the Small Family Restaurants of Italy, in a sort of Julia & Julia-but-not kind of way. Meanwhile, despite her previously proclaimed hatred of diets, Doree is doing Whole30 in January and strongly recommends the Whole30 Cookbook for anyone who's doing the Whole30, or even anyone who wants to find some great protein-heavy recipes.
Then, Kate and Doree talk to Lauren Adams — one of the stars of Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt and proprietress of the Masking for Trouble Instagram — all about her favorite face masks (while they do the interview, Lauren is doing a Baby Feet knockoff mask called Happy Feet. She has a bunch of mask recommendations, including the Elizavecca Milky-Piggy Hydro-Gel Bouncy Eye Patch, Collagen Eye Zone Patch, Aztec Secret Indian Healing Clay, Skin 1004 Zombie Mask, Benton Snail Bee High Content Mask Pack (her current fave), and the Cream Shop Anti-Aging Egg Nog Sheet Mask.
As Lauren puts it: "It's your life. You can mask as much as you want!"
